Engineering

Engineering for software that has to keep working.

We build platforms, business applications and integrations for organisations with specific requirements and long horizons. The goal is software that is still fast, secure and easy to change years after launch.

01How we structure platforms

Four layers, designed together.

Every system we build has the same anatomy. Designing the layers together is what keeps them maintainable.

Anatomy of a platform we buildSame architecture as our own products

02Capabilities

What we engineer, and what it changes.

01

SaaS platform development

Products that other businesses depend on.

We design and build multi-tenant software products: the platform, the billing, the onboarding and the operational tooling that lets a small team run it for many customers. It is the same foundation our own products run on.

Typical work
  • Multi-tenant architecture with per-customer data isolation
  • Subscriptions, plans and usage limits
  • Roles, permissions, SSO and multi-factor authentication
  • White-labelling and custom domains
  • Admin, support and impersonation tools for your team
What changes
  • Launch with an architecture that will not need rewriting at 100 customers
  • Operate many customers from one codebase

02

Enterprise and business applications

Systems shaped around how you actually work.

Bespoke CRM, operations and internal systems for organisations whose processes are a competitive advantage, or simply too specific for generic software.

Typical work
  • Custom CRM and client management
  • Job, case and workflow management
  • Approvals, reviews and audit trails
  • Client and supplier portals
  • Reporting and dashboards over your own data
What changes
  • One system of record instead of five partial ones
  • Processes enforced by software, not memory

03

Systems integration and APIs

Data entered once, trusted everywhere.

We connect accounting, payments, identity and line-of-business systems so information moves reliably between them, with retries, logging and reconciliation built in.

Typical work
  • Accounting: Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks
  • Payments: Stripe, Square
  • Productivity and identity: Microsoft 365, Google Workspace
  • Public and partner APIs, webhooks
  • Legacy databases and file-based exchanges
What changes
  • No more re-keying between systems
  • Integrations that fail loudly and recover, not silently

04

Business process automation

Repeatable work, done the same way every time.

We turn manual hand-offs, reminders and checklists into automation that is reliable, observable and easy to change when the business changes.

Typical work
  • Scheduled and recurring work generation
  • Queued background processing
  • Email and SMS notifications and reminders
  • Document generation and e-signature flows
  • Exception handling with human review
What changes
  • Staff time back for work that needs judgement
  • A record of what happened, when and why

05

Legacy software modernisation

Replace the risk without stopping the business.

Ageing systems are rarely replaced in one go. We modernise in stages: understand the existing system, migrate the data, run old and new in parallel where it matters, and retire the old system once the new one has proven itself.

Typical work
  • Discovery and documentation of the existing system
  • Incremental migration plans
  • Data migration with verification
  • Parallel runs and staged cut-over
  • Knowledge transfer away from single points of failure
What changes
  • A system more than one person can maintain
  • A cut-over that customers barely notice

06

Cloud infrastructure and architecture

Infrastructure sized for your real load and risk.

We design hosting, deployment, monitoring and backup arrangements that match what the software actually needs, including Australian data residency where it matters.

Typical work
  • AWS, DigitalOcean and Cloudflare
  • Containerised deployments with Docker
  • Monitoring, error tracking and logging
  • Backups and tested recovery
  • Australian (Sydney) hosting regions
What changes
  • Predictable performance and cost
  • Problems found by monitoring before customers find them

07

Ongoing product engineering

A long-term team for software that keeps evolving.

After launch, we stay. We maintain, secure and extend the software, plan the roadmap with you and keep dependencies and infrastructure current.

Typical work
  • Maintenance and security updates
  • Roadmap planning and feature development
  • Performance and scalability work
  • Support for your team and your customers
  • Clear documentation as the system grows
What changes
  • Software that stays current instead of decaying
  • One team accountable for the whole system
03Engineering standards

Standards we hold ourselves to.

These are the practices we use on our own products, applied to every client system.

01

Isolation and access control

Customer data is separated by design, and access follows least privilege with roles, permissions and multi-factor authentication.

02

Automated testing

Tests are written alongside features, so changes can be made confidently years from now.

03

Review and documentation

Code is reviewed, decisions are written down and the system can be understood by someone new.

04

Encryption and secrets

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and credentials never live in code.

05

Observability

Error tracking, logs and monitoring are part of the build, not something added after an incident.

06

Backups and recovery

Backups are automated and recovery is planned, so a bad day stays a bad hour.

04Ways to work with us

Start small, or start with the whole system.

  1. 01

    Discovery and architecture

A focused engagement to understand the problem and design the solution before committing to a build.

    • Current-state review
    • Architecture and data model
    • Delivery plan and estimate
  2. 02

    Project delivery

We design, build and launch the software in increments you can see and use along the way.

    • Fixed scope or phased delivery
    • Regular working releases
    • Planned launch and migration
  3. 03

    Ongoing engineering partnership

A long-term team that runs, maintains and evolves your software as a product.

    • Maintenance and security
    • Roadmap development
    • Hosting and monitoring
